Educational information only. Housing, lease, tax, immigration, employment, accessibility, and legal requirements vary. Verify information independently and consult qualified professionals when needed.

01

Clarify who is responsible

Determine whether you, the staffing agency, or the medical facility selects and pays for housing. Ask whether the housing allowance is taxable, whether unused funds remain yours, and which expenses require receipts. Review these questions with your tax adviser.

02

Confirm assignment flexibility

Clinical assignments can extend, end early, or shift locations. Ask about minimum stay, extension priority, early-termination terms, cancellation fees, and notice requirements. A flexible lease may be worth more than a modestly lower rent.

03

Inspect the working essentials

Confirm reliable internet, a desk or work surface, laundry access, parking, kitchen equipment, blackout shades, heating and cooling, and a quiet sleep environment. Ask for an inventory of furnishings and photographs before move-in.

04

Document move-in and move-out

Photograph every room, appliance, furnishing, and existing defect. Store the signed lease, condition report, payment records, and all written communications. Confirm the deposit-return timeline and forwarding-address process.
